Polish poetry in translation

Some short notes from a poetry reading on Tuesday 12 November.

All poets tonight are alive. They write in the tradition of Czesław Miłosz, Władisława Szymborska, Zbigniew Herbert.

Krystina Miłobęska, 81, first lady of Polish poetry now,  Wrote I vanish, I am.   Works with words and silence.
Her poems:
Przejźyśczeję (becoming transparent). 
12 poems in colour.

Krystina Bargielska. emotional shifts, relations between men and women.

Awanturystika (avantura=a row; turystika: tourism), 
Kochalet.
Marcin Swietlicki, 51, poet and rock musician. 
Writes about Death as a woman (Death is feminine in the Polish language).
Death has an iPod. 
Born near Majdanek concentration camp.

Lukasz Jaros, younger poet. 
Witnesses, poet of the countryside. 
Wojciech Bonowicz born in Ozwięcim (Auschwitz). 
Jerzy Fitsloski, poet of holocaust.  Noon.  Behind the fence. 
Ark publications have published contemporary metrical poetry. Jacek Deners writes  traditional poetry (11 or 13 syllable line).
